Inter Turku will travel to Turkey on Wednesday to face Istanbul Basaksehir in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League second-round qualifier.
Istanbul Basaksehir joins the competition at this stage, while Inter Turku had to get past Sarajevo in the first round.
Basaksehir reached this stage by finishing fifth in the Turkish Super Lig in 2025-26, earning 57 points from 34 games. They secured the spot ahead of Goztepe with two wins at the end of the season in May.
This result means Basaksehir is back in Conference League qualifying for the third year in a row. Last season, they made it to the league phase after beating Cherno More and Viking, but lost 5-2 on aggregate to Universitatea Craiova in the playoff round.
Inter Turku, on the other hand, hopes to keep their run going and qualify for the main stage of a European tournament for the first time in their history.
Inter Turku secured a spot in the first round of Conference League qualifying by finishing second in the Veikkausliiga in 2025. This is their first time back in qualifying since 2022, when they lost in the first round to Drita.
Inter Turku showed progress in Europe by winning on aggregate in the last round. However, their next match will be much tougher, and we do not think they have enough quality to compete with Istanbul Basaksehir, especially when playing away.
