This week marks the start of the first qualifying round in the Champions League and Ireland Premier Division outfit Shamrock Rovers are up against Icelandic outfit Breidablik.
Breidablik has already had to battle through the preliminary rounds of qualifying, thrashing Tre Penne of San Marino 7-1 and Buducnost Podgorica of Montenegro 5-0, but they could have a much tougher time of it against Rovers.
Shamrock Rovers are well-versed in these qualifying campaigns, having made it past the first round last year with a 3-0 aggregate win over Hibernians.
And, although they exited qualifying in the second round last season, they still won the home leg of their encounter against Ludogorets Razgrad 2-1.
At Tallaght Stadium Rovers are a tough nut to crack and they have won seven of their 12 home matches in the Ireland Premier Division this season.
Their most recent home assignment was a crucial 1-0 win over fellow title chasers Derry City and the Ireland Premier Division pacesetters should beat Breidablik relatively comfortably.
Shamrock Rovers have managed to keep clean sheets in five of their last seven matches and with that in mind, our prediction is a home win or a draw for this Champions League qualifier.
