Liverpool marked their first match since Jurgen Klopp’s bombshell announcement to step down at the end of the season with an emphatic 5-2 home victory over Norwich City in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.

Klopp’s men have extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 10 games, while they have only lost one of their last 17 matches over the last two-and-a-half months, but their mettle is set to be tested in back-to-back home league fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal in the space of five days.

Liverpool currently sit five points clear at the top of the table, but reigning champions Manchester City – who sit second and level on points with both Arsenal in third and Aston Villa in fourth – have a game in hand on the Reds.

Three days after securing their spot in the EFL Cup final with a thumping 6-1 semi-final second-leg victory over Middlesbrough, Chelsea were forced to settle for a goalless home draw with Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round last Friday, with both teams consigned to an undesirable replay next week.

Taking into account the aforementioned seven-game drawing streak between these two teams, another closely fought contest could be on the cards on Wednesday, although Liverpool’s impressive record at Anfield will likely give them the edge.

Chelsea can ill-afford another frustrating spell in front of goal if they are to come away with a positive result at Anfield, but even if they do manage to breach Liverpool’s backline, we believe that Klopp’s rampant Reds should find a way to outscore their West London counterparts en route to an important victory.
